I love dance. I love dancing. I love watching dance.
I.HEART.DANCE.
Now that my hips are wider, my legs are bigger, and my arms have a little more jiggle to them, I resort to watching others dance. I do however, still bust some clogging moves when no cameras are around and shake those hips when Luke is demanding a dance party, but I don't slick my hair back into a tight bun and put on lots of makeup anymore.
My beautiful cousin Brynlee is a Cougarette (she's in the middle).
Devrie, her sister, is right up there in the beauty department too.
THEY.ARE.AMAZING.
Last night I watched her in Cougarettes in Concert. Each number would come and go, and each time my adrenaline would start just a little with the desire to move like that again. (I've never moved just like the Cougarettes, but I could hold my own.) There is something so universal and magical about dancing.
The men in my life even enjoy dancing. Darren is constantly whispering to me "Oh, that was a cool move" or "nice music" and even mentioning their costumes. Love that. I've gotten multiple texts from my brothers telling me about dance routines where diagonals were off, or a costume looked bad. I even get my dad excited to bust out the 2004 drill team videos during the holidays.
It's a beautiful sport.
Yes, I said sport. I just have to throw in my spill about how dancing is more of a sport than football, basketball, hockey, you name it- DANCING IS A SPORT. It takes lots of discipline and talent.
Here is the Cougarettes winning routine from last year. I got to see it live last night. It blows your socks off how fast and amazing and perfect it is!!
Thanks Bryn for being uber-talented so I can live vicariously through you!

I miss dancing so much. I got the chills when I watched that video! DR thinks I want to go back to High School just so I can be on the Drill Team again. He claims I've made him watch my drill video like a hundred times. False. He's only watched it once and I don't think he appreciated the straight formation angles and costumes either.
Aw. You are so nice.
Those fouettes near the end were incredible! Wow!
k did i know you danced?! um hello! i danced all through high school/college & taught after i graduated for a few years. funny how your life before kids never really gets discussed. we'll have to get together and have a dance party.
i was wanting to go to the cougarette concert too but schedule did not permit! they are always so amazingly thrilling to watch!!
