Mother's Intuition

Today is "one of those days" that mom's talk about.  I don't have them very often, but today, I'm having myself a pity party.  JUST FOR TODAY!

I've learned a valuable lesson today and I want to write this down as proof to myself so I can remember this, as I know there will be many more times and instances where this will come into play.

I mentioned in an earlier post (I wrote that long before the 14th) that Luke was a little attached and whiny.  This is abnormal for him.  I thought it was the 6th tooth or possibly a little separation anxiety.  Well, the 6th tooth has broke through the gum and fine, and still constant whining and crying is coming out of this little boy.  I've been telling him "Luke, you just ate and have a clean diaper and have tons of toys and my attention, why are still crying?"

I was told right after I had Luke to always trust my mother's intuition and the Spirit.  I feel Heavenly Father has blessed us with this power as mother's because our little ones can't communicate with us.  I used it today.

Around 2:00 this afternoon as I sat in my workout clothes from this morning, dishes in the sink, toys everywhere, and a screaming baby, I picked up the phone and called the doctor's office.  I was shocked when she said we have an appointment at 2:40.  I wasn't expecting to go in so soon.  I was hesitant, but I quickly brushed my teeth and headed out the door.

I don't want to be "one of those moms" that always goes to the doctor over every little thing.  I was afraid the doctor would say, "He's perfect, I don't know why you came in."  Which he would never say, but I have the fear.  So we got there and sure enough the little bug has an ear infection.

And honestly I knew that all along.  I've known.  Why did I doubt myself?  I'm not sure.  But as I left the doctor's office and driving home I had a conversation with myself telling me to never doubt when I have that Mother's Intuition.  Never.

That is such great advise! I've been worrying that I won't know what my little one needs or wants when he gets here but you've made me feel so much better, that I will "just know." Thanks for sharing that! :) Hugs!
