snacks

Luke loves snacks.

Luke hates meals.

Eating seems to be a c.o.n.s.t.a.n.t. battle around here.  Just the other day I was eating a grilled ham and cheese (our Sunday lunch ritual) and I may have forced the little guy to take a couple of bites.  Even though he was shaking his head and screaming, he kept eating every bite.  This kid is stubborn! (Which is totally a Darren trait... ha, I wish, it is totally the KING stubbornness coming out)

I just know this kid is going to be a good eater someday. He will come around, right?

Having a snack after a long nap is always a must.

Luke's favorite snacks include:

popcorn
pistachios
wheat thins
Annie's crackers
Clif fruit rope
cereal
dried strawberries or bananas
Stoneyfield gogurt (I love these too)
string cheese
pretzels
goldfish
and the occasional fruit snack

and either water or juice.
and if he is sneaky or cuddly a sip of mama's soda from lunch

I just know someday he going to bite into some carrots or broccoli and beg for more and more veggies, instead of throwing them promptly onto the ground.

I love this little monster, as quirky as he may be, and have to remember to sit back and enjoy the ride.  Because it is quite the ride.

Keisha,

Have I preached green smoothies to you yet? Naomi gets mad if I don't pour her her own when I pour my own... Here's a link to the "recipe" I use- and why I think they're awesome, and how I got my kids drinking them: http://achoicediet.blogspot.com/2011/04/green-smoothie-recipe-and-why.html

yes he will come around :) peyton has become a bottomless pit... he loves snacks still, but we are eating like 6 full meals a day, it seriously amaze me! -but when peyton was 2, cole had to remind me that he wasnt starving to death becuase i would get really frustrated with him not eating!

I was just getting ready to write a very similar post. Feeding Leila can be a battle and she too promptly throws her food on the floor.
Luke is older than Leila...that means it's probably only going to get worse before it gets better.
I love how optimistic you are...I'm sure he will ask for more veggies. Ha ha. Maybe in his twenties. I kid.

I had a whole class on the book "How to get your kid to eat... but not too much" by Ellyn Satter in college. It's a great book. Some of it is easier said that done- I struggle with feeding Brinlee sometimes and I know concepts of the book in and out. Good luck!
