the little (but not so little anymore) mr. is 3 months shy of 2. I can hardly believe it. He's becoming a boy right in front of our eyes.
it scares me to death.
can I handle a boy? this boy!
can I handle the tantrums?
can I discipline this boy like he needs it?
can I be a good parent and friend?
can I teach this kid what he needs to know to survive this crazy world?
and a billion other questions go through my mind on a daily basis.
so, let me break this to myself as easy as possible.... Keisha, you've arrived at what the experts like to call the "terrible twos". It's here. Embrace it.
(I hope we can minimize the terrible part of the twos)
We've had lots of episodes in the last week or so...
Going to the Discovery Gateway museum, then Luke decides the only thing to do there is go up and down the elevator over and over. No persuasion from me is going to change that.
Friday night at my parents Luke decides to wake up and stay up for almost 3 hours during the night. I may or may not have broke into tears in my mom's room at 4:30 in the morning. Saying "What is his problem?" We were going to go boating early Saturday morning, but that didn't happen...
**he's slept fine ever since. Must have been a fluke thing. Thank heavens!
The Smuin boys had farwell/homecoming talks Sunday, and just as Darr and I walk to the 4th row of the crowded Chapel.... Luke falls down and smack his head and lips and starts screaming bloody murder, rightfully so. Then 20 minutes later after throwing a car to the little girl in front of him about 5 times, and showing no interest in it, I give it to the girl because she wanted it. Game over. This boy had a meltdown again, because I gave her the car, in the oh so quiet chapel. I quickly take him out as you feel all the eyes follow you out the door.
Later that day, we ran into multiple people saying "oh was that your little guy making all the ruckus during Sacrament." YEP! That's our boy!
I don't even need to tell you what happened this morning, just look at the picture...
Let's just say it was my favorite vase.
Ahh, the joys of parenthood.
He's just so gosh darn curious and busy. He's not a mischievous little boy, he just wants to figure things out. I'm fully aware and thankful for that. But, it doesn't make this parenting thing easy.
I love that my brother Karston even said to me this weekend, "if he wasn't so darn cute..."
Trust me, I say that line over and over and over again.
But 80% of the time we have fun and he melts my heart.

Keisha you are doing awesome with him and you will do fine with this next stage:) although i have to say this scares me a lot for what im in for?!!
He is indeed super cute. More importantly, you are making memories that will be told for a lifetime. I can't tell you how much mileage we've gotten out of recalling the times Darren chased us around the house with knives! That's what you really gotta watch out for...
It's amazing that prepubescent terror turned out to be one of the mellowest, coolest dudes I know. You'll be just fine K & D.
i can agree with so much you say about your l, it's rediculous!!! craziness. two. oh, two... do you have to come? i mean, sure i want to see elle grow, but MAN this is turning into a haarrrrd age:)
I love hearing your stories Keish! This last Sunday as I looked around at all the other kids sitting in Sacrament meeting and playing quietly I felt like my little one was a stand-out monster. Glad to know I'm not alone. :)
