In two weeks I will have a two year old.
He's changed so much in the last year. He's becoming my little partner or sidekick if you will in life. I tell him things throughout the day like he is an adult. Just because I need adult conversation in the morning every now and again. Like "Luke, what do you want for lunch? I mean, I think Jimmy Johns sounds delicious too. Ok, go get your shoes and lets get in the car." And like every good guy learns, he doesn't say much, he just listens (if I'm lucky). Ok, is that even "adult conversation"? I'm not sure, but I'm loving our little interactions during the day.
He continually amazes me everyday.
I gave him the garage door opener while we were driving to entertain him during traffic. Once we got home I looked back to grab it from him and he straightens his arm and with one click opens our garage and proceeds to hand me back the remote.
He knows how to maneuver his way around my phone with ease. He knows where all his apps are, knows how to start Finding Nemo, and can adjust the volume for the movie. Before I know it, he's going to be sending his dad texts during the day. Sheesh, these kids come pre-wired with technology skills.
Its getting harder and harder for me to have him eat in the high chair. He wants to eat right by us. My heart melts when we all sit down for dinner and he automatically folds his arm for the prayer. Those things in life erase all the little annoyances they did throughout the day.
He's developing a sense of humor and it cracks me up. I love when he finds himself funny. Or when he reverses back to the full size mirror to check himself out and then proceeds to talk to himself.
I've become an oil Nazi of sorts around here, and if I forget to put them on before bed he lifts his foot straight out reminding me to put them on. He also tries to put on his diaper and lay perfectly in his jammie outline.
And he has fine tuned his kisses and hugs. He's pretty liberal about giving them out and they are awesome. I think he could squeeze anything he wants out of his grandpa when he hugs him like this...
In the two years I've been a mom I've learned a couple of things-
treasure the little things. they truly are the sweetest gifts from God.
laugh. Just the other week we were at the Lehi pool and Luke had pooped in his swim diaper. THE WORST. In order to get him cleaned off I had to give him a shower. Well there was no hot water and it was pretty cold. We also had an audience (Megan and Bailey). As I'm trying to console my little guy and get him cleaned up- I turned to Megan and said "this is a moment when I could laugh or cry. I'm choosing to laugh." Luke gave me a big hug once he had his sweats on and was nice and dry and warm. The situations you are faced with while being a mom can get intense, but I'm surprised at what I can handle when I need to.
you can't control their little spirits. my job is to help guide him to be the best boy he can be.
and finally, don't worry about things that you feel in your heart you don't need to worry about.
Ok, TWOS lets see if we can handle you! I'm sure with Luke it is going to crrrrrazy. :)

gosh time flies doesn't it? If he's gonna be 2, that means Layla's gonna be three soon. OMG!
He's so adorable. Love the swim diaper story, made me laugh. You just never know what's going to happen, or in Layla's case, where they're going to say!
BTW, I just love your blog. Who does your layout. I need a blog makeover and am totally interested in who does yours.
