homecoming weekend

We just got back from a whirlwind weekend of high school dance events.  Dakota had his big homecoming day date/ dance on Saturday.  Talk about major flashbacks! I literally remember my exact dance date at our cabin years ago (like over 7 years ago?!- for reals, I can't believe it)

It looks like they had a lot of fun! Dakota had a darling date.

It was a perfect October day! Luke was in sensory overload mode.  Running from rocks to kids to grandpa to the car to the fourwheeler to treats on the table and back to grandpa.  There really is something magical about letting your own child play in nature.  It makes your heart happy or something.

Here's the cabin.  It just got a deck makeover.  We love the new deck.  But this, my friends, is a true blue cabin.  You have to turn on the pump to flush the toilet.  It has a fridge from like the 40s and it has no tv or internet connections.  It's a great little escape.

such a good mom I am.  I got down and dirty with the little guy.

the possibilities with this row of chairs were endless...

The high school kiddos were off getting dirty.  The boys had planned to have them go eat a nice dinner after their adventure... ummm lets just say the boys weren't thinking on that one.  My mom (who is truly a saint) threw together an impromptu dinner for twenty kids in like 2 hours.  She was amazing, and she didn't even need to run to the store.  Inspiration right there.

all of them cleaned up great.

Fuzz looked so dapper.

I still can't believe that my littlest brother is driving and dating and taking girls to dances!

I.love.him.

With the all the commotion of homecoming, we didn't get a chance to go see the house progress until Sunday between sessions.  It is coming along great! My parents are doing such a great job.  Can't wait to have sleepovers and hang out in the backyard.

Your little man is adorable! Love reading about your cute little family.

I can't believe Dakota is that old! Makes me feel super old!

Wish my family still lived in that neighborhood. Miss coming home to that place! Your parents' house looks amazing! Can't wait to see it over the holidays.
