five years folks.
Darren and I have made it five years. Its been an eventful five years and I think it is only going to get crazier. Totally a good thing.
I think Darren thinks I'm older than I really am now. For instance the other day we were talking about someone getting engaged at a "young age". He said I can't even imagine getting married at 19... ummm hello there- I was 19 when we got engaged. 20 when we got married. We just didn't seem so young. Its just like when you see kids in high school now they seem sooooo little. But when you were a senior you felt so grown up.
Marriage makes you grow up fast. Fortunately for us, I think it has been in a good way.
My parents were gems and took Luke last weekend so we could celebrate.
Childless.
Luke probably had a more fun filled weekend than we did. I didn't expect anything less from my parents. They took him all over the place and he was exhausted each night. Ironically my mom said she hasn't slept better than on Saturday night after a day of the lake, Cars 2 and shopping with Luke. (I'm telling you mom, this kid wears you out)
I kept getting text updates on the fun they were up to. My fave is my dad and Luke at Wal-Mart. My dad looks miserable. If you ask him, he will say he was miserable because he was at Wal-Mart.
Darren and I had an interesting adventure ourselves...
We went to Park City Friday evening hoping to stay through until late Saturday afternoon. We booked a room through Expedia to stay at the Westgate at the Canyons. Long story short- we ended up leaving our room at 4:00 in the morning because the air conditioner didn't work and we weren't sleeping well on a small queen (which was supposed to be a king) and we were both miserable. We were both hungry on the drive home so we split a Betos burrito (thank HEAVENS they are open 24/7) and pulled into our house about 5:00. We both crashed in our comfortable bed until about 11.
Lesson learned: your bed is always best.
Saturday it was so nice to just hang out just the two of us at home. We went to a movie (and even held hands) and enjoyed grocery shopping without a divide and conquer approach when having Luke.
Sunday at church was bliss without a crazy kid to chase around. My parents got a nice dose of Luke at church. He's a stinker.
I think every couple needs some time away from the chicklets.
But don't let me fool you, I was so excited to see my little guy after the weekend was over. Life just isn't as fun with him not around. We love our little boy.
Happy Anniversary Darr! loves ya.
