Where to begin...
I just got home last night from one of the most memorable weekends of my life. It wasn't anything super fancy, I didn't go on a shopping spree, no spa treatment, not even a roller coaster- I surprised my sister Jenna.
Yes, my SISTER Jenna.
Thursday was one of those days for her & her family. She was very upset and with good reason. I was sick to my stomach, knowing she was so sad and upset. I talked to Darren and Karen (D's mom) and we were trying to figure out if there was any way to make her feel a little better. We thought about it all afternoon, and I just kept crying and thinking "if only I could see her". She lives in California.
Darren came home late afternoon and his parents had decided they wanted to send me to see her!! My heart started racing & knew this could be a nice surprise for her-- and for me. As I was booking my ticket, my phone buzzed. It was Jenna: "when are you coming to see me? I need something to look forward to".
I am horrible at surprises, but knew I could make this surprise happen. I quickly wrote back and said "SERIOUSLY! We will see each other soon...." And then I booked my ticket. Little did she know that in 4 short hours I would be at her house.
Darren and Luke took me to the airport. My heart was beating so fast. I have never done a surprise like this before.
Rick picked me up and we were on our way to surprise my Jenna.
She called Rick as we were almost home and they made small talk about their day, and she even mentioned talking to me earlier that day. Jenna had NO IDEA what was going on.
Five minutes later I was outside her bedroom, as I opened up the door and said "hello" very quietly, she was shocked. Tears started flowing from both of our eyes and we embraced.
Honestly, it is a moment in my life I will NEVER EVER forget. We needed each other- just like real sisters need each other.
The next three days were spent having lunch, shopping, girls night out to see Grease (Broadway), laying on a blanket watching baseball practice, hot tubbing, watching movies, cooking, and being sisters.
For two decades I cried because my parents never had another girl. Looking back on it now, it's perfect. I got the perfect sister at a time in my life when I need her most and we don't fight over clothes! Bliss!
I love my Jenna.
Thank you Dick and Karen for making this memory possible! IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY & EVERY MOMENT.
