When Mama is sick...

I posted about all the hoopla of the kids being sick, well it hit me... and it hit me hard.

I had a mole removed from the side of my belly button last year right before Darren and I went to Kauai. It came back as Basal Cell cancerous. My doctor told me if it didn't grow back or bother me, we were good to go. Well... it grew back and so did another mole right inside my belly button.

And we all know how I feel about belly buttons. (gagging just thinking about it)

My appointment was scheduled right in the middle of Morgan's fevers, so I postponed the appointment a week, hallelujah for that. I didn't realize what was ahead for me. As I got to the appointment, I realized that I would be getting my moles dug out deeper. I was taken back to the surgery room and had 7 stitches put in right in the most sensitive spot on my body.

I was spent after that procedure.

The next day I started getting a fever and just couldn't get out of bed. Friday, was even worse! Fortunately, my parents were on there way out as I couldn't handle watching Morgan for one more second and Darren was in a company meeting all day. They picked up a prescription for Tylenol with codeine to manage pain (thinking I had an infection). I was exhausted that whole day. My mom was a rockstar, cleaning up my house and doing laundry. I was so grateful.

Saturday, I felt good enough to go with my mom while the boys went skiing. By that night, I was done again and fevered and chilled. I just felt awful. Sunday morning was horrible. I didn't go to church and let my parents manage the boys during sacrament meeting. Byron Edwards (my dermo) was gracious to meet me at his office and see what was up. My wound looked fine. We determined it was a virus.

Sunday/Mondayish I developed a zit on the back of my neck. I popped it. It had a white head. My parents left for home that afternoon and I finished out the day trying to feel better.

Tuesday, I forced myself to get dressed and function. I got out of the shower that morning and thought "Did I just take a really hot shower?" I was red all over...

By Wednesday morning my body was covered in a hot fevered itchy rash. I went into the doctor. He put me on prednisone to clear the rash. Ugh, I was just so miserable. I had blood work done to try and determine what was happening and if there were any infections. Blood work came back clean.

Gail Berry heard about all of this going on, and graciously brought us dinner. As we were talking about what was going on, we determined that she had the same thing happen to her years ago with the zit popping and then lymph nodes swelling up huge and rash all over her body. Just so so weird.

Friday my parents were back out to help us with kids while we did Youth Conference with our ward. I was feeling better, but still not 100 percent. By that night I had such intense inflammation, I couldn't bend my fingers or look up or down. I dosed up on Ibuprofen to manage it during the weekend. It worked. Gail and Bob were so gracious to keep checking in on me. I was able to finish Youth Conference (more on that soon).

Sunday my stitches were irritating me and hurting to bend over or have Morgan sit on me. It was a long exhausting haul for church, but we made it... barely.

Today I was so nervous to get the stitches out because BELLY BUTTON but Byron helped me through it and my other moles I had removed came back benign and I'm so relieved. Excited to start feeling on the mend and back to busy healthy mama.
