Luke is adjusting to Grovecrest with awesomeness. I've been so so happy with how everything is transitioning. Transitions are hard for all of us. It's been a big leap of faith to make this change, but I'm so grateful we've done it. Luke is growing so much and it makes me happy to see him morphing into this mature boy. (As mature as a 7 year old can get!)
He finally has adjusted to lunchtime. I had the system in place to number each item, so he knows what to eat in what order. It was miraculous for him! We've even started not numbering lunch. Wahoo.
He has had some issues with drawing on his desk and breaking crayons... we are working on that. He definitely has the nervous gene from both Darren and me. I bought him a chew necklace that hopefully helps a little.
Luke goes by 'Luke K' in class because there is a 'Luke S'. How perfect is that?! And it is even better that the two Lukes are becoming good friends. Luke plays with him everyday at recess.
One thing I'm really loving about his new school is the parent involvement. I was able to go and help for Apple Days. Luke's face when I walked in the classroom was priceless. I helped do an Apple Math activity. Luke's class is darling. The kids all make me smile.
