Brothers

Yesterday was a crazy and chaotic day.  We had lots going on and Luke even skipped his nap...What?!

My parents were out here for a Christmas party and then to finish up their Christmas shopping.  Luke and I tagged along.  Not one complaint from the little mister because he was with Grandpa (buddy is what Luke calls him). They shared a churro at Costco, went up and down the escalator at Nordstrom "like 400 times" according to my dad, ran from one end of the mall to the other, and pressed every handicap button to open a door he could find.  My mom and I love having Luke distract my dad during mall time!

But during this shopping time my mind was full of thoughts.  Lots of mom thoughts.  Some happy, some filled with worry, and some filled with exhaustion.

I don't hide my emotions at all, and that is the understatement of 2011 right there...

So yesterday as my mind is somewhere else and I'm talking to Karston on the phone about lots of random unimportant things, he out of the blue, gets a crying older sister. This is the last thing he needs during finals time and just in general.  He doesn't need to be worrying about the things I'm worried about.  But the thing I don't think he realized was that he was EXACTLY the person at that EXACT time that I needed to talk to.  He said all the right things.  (Karston is kind of profound that way) He listened and he calmed me down. When I hung up the phone I felt somewhat embarrassed of what just happened, but knew he was family and would forget.  But he didn't... an hour later he sent a text.

"love you. and love my baby luke."

Then I watched Korbin chase Luke around the mall with dad and smile and laugh at every little thing the crazy toddler did.  It was like Luke is the coolest, best, sweetest thing he's ever seen.  And I love that.  I love watching my brother in phases of their lives when kids/babies aren't a priority or even and interest and my three brothers have taken an extreme interest in him.

And finally yesterday and Luke and I were finishing up our day, we decided to facetime our Fuzz.  He was home alone and we all loved catching up.  See Dakota takes me back to a time when the drama in life was who is dating who in high school.  I kinda like hearing all about and taking myself back to those days for a couple of minutes.  But then quickly snapping out of it because of all the hormonal crazy drama high school brings.  As we were ending our chat, he says "Keish, I love you."  I mean, seriously these boys kill me.

So in the Christmas spirit, I just wanted to say how grateful I am for 3 of the best gifts I have ever received.

**but don't get me wrong, we all can still have our battles ;)
